CII holds workshop on lean manufacturing practices

CHANDIGARH: With an objective to develop expertise on lean manufacturing in industries, CII organised a workshop on lean manufacturing practices here on Friday at Chandigarh. Lean manufacturing is a systematic approach for identifying and eliminating waste in operations through continuous improvement for doing everything more efficiently, optimizing the cost of operating the system and fulfilling the customers desire for maximum value at the lowest price.
“Manufacturing units incur huge losses due to lack of awareness of the good and proven manufacturing practices, hence such workshops are need of the hour to create more awareness and build capacity of the Industry members to augment Industrial Growth,” said Rajiv Aggarwal, Chairman Himachal Pradesh State Council.
This session covered important issues related to how to realise world class performance in Manufacturing and the other related business processes of the supply chains in order to reduce cost, improve quality, enhance delivery reliability and improve all round business, shared Gaurava Vats, Senior Counselor, CII Avantha Centre for Competitiveness.
The workshop also facilitated peer learning through sessions on sharing experience involving the participants, added Vats.In total 70 participants from various sectors such as pharma, auto-component, light engineering and textile benefitted from the workshop.
