Northern Ireland’s second-largest city, Derry, is hosting this year’s Manufacturing Excellence Roundtable event on the 15th and 16th of March at the City Hotel.

The event is a gathering of European manufacturing companies, and is set to host large global businesses such as Danone, Beam, Diageo, Weetabix, Heinz, and Akzo Nobel. Paul Kirkpatrick from DuPont and David Rogers from Competitive Capabilities International worked tirelessly to ensure the event was held in Derry; it has previously been hosted by England and Spain.

Sixty industry senior managers and experts are gathering to talk about the challenges they face in growing their businesses to the largest possible scale, including details about lean manufacturing, six Sigma, and supply chain optimisation – specifically TRACC, a global manufacturing and supply chain improvement system.

DuPont will be hosting a tour of the site and a Q&A session regarding how it has become an international efficiency benchmark.

Kirkpatrick told Derry Journal: “DuPont is really proud to be hosting the event and showcasing the good work done at Maydown to secure our reputation as a global leader in manufacturing. There’s a great sense of pride to have created and grown the event, and then to have been able to bring it back to Derry.”
